"Disciple Guidance", formerly known as "Xunmeng Wen", is a literary work that appeared in the Qing Dynasty, written in rhyme. It starts with the moral education, which is the first of the four Confucian teachings, and elaborates in detail the life style and learning methods that the learners should follow, that is, firstly focus on the fundamentals of morality, and then seek to enrich the knowledge, as the basis for promoting the cause of benevolence and virtue. It is generally believed that the author is Li Yuxiu, a talented scholar in the Kangxi period of the Manchu and Qing Dynasties. It was later revised and adapted by Jia Cunren and renamed as "The Rules of Disciples".
