About 四十二章經

"Forty-two chapters", collected in the seventeenth volume of "Taisho Tibetan" "Jijibu". It is said that it was jointly translated by the monks of Zhongtianzhu She Mo Teng and Zhu Falan in the White Horse Temple outside the city of Luoyang in the Eastern Han Dynasty. According to legend, it was the first Buddhist scripture translated in ancient China. The content is that a certain passage spoken by Buddha Shakyamuni is called a chapter, and a total of forty-two passages are selected and compiled.
This book is excerpted from Buddhist scriptures such as Aham and Dhamma, and briefly explains the basic teachings of Buddhism. The content includes Buddhism's cultivating guidelines, stating that to become a monk at home, one should diligently renounce desires, through generosity, precepts, and meditation, increase good karma, and truthfully know the wisdom of selflessness, you can attain the four kinds of Samana.

In the Song Dynasty, the ancestors of Zen added many Zen concepts and terms, and later they were collectively called the "Three Sutras of Buddhism" together with the "Buddhist Sutras" and "Buddhist Sutras".
