Randomly locks you out
My building took away our physical keys and switched to Latch. In three months, I have been locked out on three occasions, including having my cat sitter locked out on Christmas Day while I was traveling. The app connects to the door and indicates that it is unlocked, a sound happens, but turning the handle does not retract the deadbolt like normal. Then I have to enter an emergency unlock request (presumptive $150 fee from my buildingI have to then negotiate away), wait 45 mins, the troubleshoot the issue through a language barrier since it randomly will start working again sometimes. This is strictly a worse experience than having a physical key.
