Augmented reality and virtual reality to tell the places and events of the Great World War on the Isonzo front.
The "San Michele VR" app empowers the museum experience of the monumental area of Mount San Michele giving more information on the monuments, the Cima 3 galleries and trenches. The application allows you to virtually visit the area of San Michele, the places of the lower Isonzo front and also offers an augmented visit experience thanks to the 3D holograms that can be seen in the gunboat and at the Cima 3 fortifications.
With the purchase of the museum ticket, visitors can activate the augmented reality (AR) contents, visible along the external museum route, near the gunboat and the Lukachich cave. On site you will find AR tags that activates the multimedia content trough the screen of your smartphone you will see 3D holograms inserted in the environment and you will listen some stories related to the events of these places.
A section of the app is dedicated to the presentation of the immersive virtual experience that the visitor can make at the VR 360 room of the San Michele Museum, that allows him to relive in person the events of the Great World War on Mount San Michele: a unique and engaging journey through maps interactive 2D and 3D reconstructions of the Cima 3 gunner tunnel and of the cave named after General Lukachich. Another section allows you to view on the map the points of interest and VR tours of the Great World War sites in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
In the VR 360 room, 15 seats with VR headsets and headphones allow visitors to see life scenes in the trenches, listen to the stories of the war correspondents until they relive the tragic moment of the gas attack on 29 June 1916 and the overflight of the tableland of Doberdò on the Spad XIII plane guided by Francesco Baracca.
