An Official U.S. Navy mobile application, offered by the Navy PMW 240 Program.
The Navy Tools application provides information on the use and care of commonly used hand and measuring tools. Content explains types of tools, their uses, and practical applications. There is also information about safety requirements, general care, and how to make limited repairs. Based on the NAVEDTRA 14256 Nonresident Training Course, the app helps Sailors select the right tools in order to do their work quickly, accurately, and safely.
Using an interactive menu, the app is organized into chapters, with learning objectives for each group of tools. Information about specific tools is accessed simply by using this interactive menu feature. Figures and images are available throughout the course to provide additional information about operation of tools and their uses.
To enhance learning, interactive questions appear at the end of each chapter with immediate feedback given for chosen responses. Sailors who take the optional final exam and receive a passing score of 70 percent may enter their 10-digit DODID and have the results added to their electronic training jacket.
The Navy Tools app is comprehensive, easy to use, and offers public content only – no authentication/authorization required.
