Developed through a research-led design process, the industry-themed Foundry feels entirely unlike traditional learning spaces, intended as an ‘other space’ on campus where students can assert their professional identity through work with industry on paid projects that fit around their studies; delivering against a core objective of the IoC to ensure university learners are ready for the workplace.
Aside from being home to our ‘Enterprise Studios’, the Foundry is also a digital event space, soon to be hosting a high-profile calendar of technology outreach and engagement events across cyber-security, computer science, creative technologies and STEM subjects designed to widen participation around coding and digital skills. The Foundry was a designated host-site for Bristol for the 2019 Global Game Jam, quickly becoming the largest jam site in the UK.
