Daily Planner, Schedule: Brite

Along With High Hopes, Discovered Equal Parts Potential & Problems!

First, I should start off by saying that I really wanted to love this app as the concept simply can’t be beat, however I just can’t say the same for its execution. The idea of eliminating a dozen or more disparate apps in exchange for a single daily driver is nothing short of alluring, yet that’s an incredible challenge being that your customer base is not only expecting one high quality app, but essentially an entire suite of them! Now, the app does include nearly every feature that I could ask for in a robust daily planner, but it doesn’t appear as if their QA process is able to catch many smaller (and a couple of the larger) bugs before pushing a release out to the public. Additionally, we have come to expect integrations to work out-of-the-box, yet there were issues when pulling in my existing Google Calendar. Sadly, I have not experienced such issues with other apps, even those that appeared far less sophisticated. That’s never a good look for a paid, commercial app. I do believe that this app has massive potential, so I will list a brief overview of some of the bugs and concerns that I experienced in just the first 24 hours. If these could be consistently addressed going forward, I am still willing to giving it another go and changing my rating accordingly. 1. Before starting on the technical issues, I was directed to a Russian (.ru) payment gateway directly via the app menu. I get that multiple payment systems are needed in some apps, but this appeared rather sketchy!
 2. After connecting my Google Calendar, I could only see a limited amount of past and future scheduled events! That makes no sense as it’s something people regularly need access to!
 3. Select fields such as preexisting addresses were missing from my Google Calendar and it’s not practical to have to add them back in by hand!
 4. The schedule would display “It seems, your schedule is overlapping,” however that particular event had both a start and stop time, no events immediately before or after it, and this was an event from my Google Calendar.
 5. I accidentally tapped the focus timer at the bottom of the above event, but I could not get it to cancel no matter what I tried! Tapping “Continue” and “Remove” did absolutely nothing, even restarting the app did not help.
 6. When trying to initially tweak my homepage, I had to manually refresh to see the changes, even simple ones like changing the icons to individual sections! That’s an extremely easy item to code and something that most people would expect to be automated. I initially thought it simply was not working at all until trying the manual refresh!
 7. I don’t know if it’s a bug, but it just feels incomplete as tapping on any day in the weather doesn’t return details. I was expecting to see something as weather conditions change throughout the day. This is where I will have to stop as I’m running out of space to complete this review. I do want to reiterate that there’s some things that I really do like a lot. The list options, especially having ADHD-friendly ones is nothing short of awesome! If the bugs could get worked out, especially those dealing with integrations (and I only tried one), this could be an outstanding daily driver! Additionally, what’s up with a .ru payment page being in the app?! 🤔

Sync issues and Customer Service

I liked the app & especially desktop version at first, and decided to purchase after the 3-day trial. Little did I know that so many synchronization issues would pop up. I wrote an entire doc on my phone, it wouldn’t show up on my laptop. Then the next day, the doc on my phone was completely gone. Obviously upsetting and annoying. I reached out to customer support chat several times. No response. I reached out via email for a refund since it had only been a couple of weeks of using Brite, no response. It’s one thing to have issues with the app, but terrible customer service on top of that is unacceptable. Still waiting for my refund now.
