More functionality
I just downloaded this app because I prefer more “bare bones” organization apps and I liked how simple this was to navigate, but I have two suggestions for added functionality to make this more effective. First, allow us to manually add items *without* requiring the UPC. For example, I buy large packs of chicken and separate them into smaller portions to freeze, I want to be able to just add “chicken” to my Pantry and log however many portions I have, which doesn’t require the UPC of the original pack. Secondly, I would like to be able to tag entries for better organization within Categories. For example, I could have frozen spinach in my Frozen Foods Category and canned corn in my Shelf-Stable Category and lettuce in my Fridge Category; I would like to be able to tag all those items “vegetables” and be able to search for all the “vegetables” in my Pantry at any given time. Edit: a third addition that would be helpful is being able to sort and view my pantry by category, i.e. only show me what’s in my freezer, etc

It has potential
I think adding the ability to set an expiration date on your products is crucial for a food tracker app, also, being able to collaborate with someone else in your household, If those features were added then this app would be perfect.
