WBGT Calculator

The Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) is a heat index that provides a more complete picture of the human body's heat stress than a standard air temperature measurement. The WBGT is often used to better assess the risks of working or exercising in hot environments. The index combines four key environmental factors that determine how the body perceives and can release heat: temperature, humidity, wind speed, and solar radiation.

This calculator offers a theoretical approach based on limited inputs. It cannot account for actual environmental variations and local microclimate effects such as terrain, obstacles, ground reflectance (albedo), infrared radiation, wind blocks, or variations in cloud cover.

The WBGT is an objective measure of a person's heat stress. A person's actual physiological stress is further influenced by personal and work-related factors such as clothing, physical condition, and acclimatization. These do not change the WBGT value itself, but they do determine how a person responds to a given WBGT value.
