About vrtumind

It is difficult to understand what types of meditation benefit us more than others.

Many of us here want to start meditating, but are overwhelmed by the number of different approaches. How does one find the method that works best? Traditionally, it takes a lot of time, guessing, and self-experimentation before you get into the groove of regular practice.

We’re working to make this process effortless for you.

Meditation has a direct impact on our physical and mental wellbeing. Recently, technology has gotten quite good at detecting these changes. There are metrics like heart rate, breath, body temperature, heart rate variability, and even brainwaves that can be detected by smart devices.

We believe we can find and optimize for digital traces of happiness.

We’ve worked with a few PhDs to develop a free app that detects changes in your mood as you meditate. Our technology learns from & adapts to you, providing the most effective mindfulness activities in the moment.

We need more technology that makes our lives better without us needing to do anything. This is a humble attempt — just the beginnings of effortless, easy meditation for all. There’s still so much work ahead of us, and we couldn’t be more excited to share & explore with you. If you’d like to support us, head over to www.reddit.com/r/vrtumind where you can help pilot our project into the future by submitting feature requests or pointing out bugs to the team!

We are humane technologists.

As long as companies continue to profit from your addiction, depression, and division, our society will continue to be at risk. Our growing community of humane technologists are finding better ways to align technical advancement with the goals of humanity. When we work together, humans are capable of engineering technology that is indistinguishable from magic. If you’re interested in longer-term involvement with our team, or simply have an idea you’d like to share, please contact us on our website or make a post on our subreddit.
