About TBStoryTeller

TB is the world's leading infectious disease killer, which claims 1.5 million lives each year, globally. Tuberculosis (TB) is a major public health problem in India. The country has the largest number of TB cases in the world — over a quarter of the global TB and Multi-Drug Resistant - TB (MDR-TB) burden. In 2016, 2.79 million people became ill from TB, and 435,000 died from it. There are more than 850,000 cases of TB each year in India that is either undetected and untreated or diagnosed and treated by private healthcare providers. Many of them live in rural and slum setting and belong to poor, semi-literate and migrant communities.

TB StoryTeller is a series of talking-comics designed to sensitize communities living in low resource settings having high TB prevalence rates. TB Storyteller will provide a new story to local communities in local Hindi (Mewati Dialect) every week. With increasing mobility in communities, the storyteller is designed to create awareness about TB, its symptoms, myths & misconceptions and, diagnosis, treatment and adherence issues. Every new weekly story will help in improving understanding about TB and its treatment and help people come forward for diagnosis and treatment, especially women.

This project is developed by ZMQ Development using its YourStoryTeller platform. The projects is part of ZMQ's under Wave7 project call under TBREACH and is supported by StopTB Partnership and Government of Canada.
