An angel (plural: Arabic: малайкат; singular: Arabic: малайка) is a servant created by Allah from light:
"Then they said, 'God has a son.' God is pure from him. No, angels are honored slaves. They do not speak before Him. They also obey His commands. God knows their past and their future. They can only intercede for those who are pleasing to God. They tremble in fear of Allah. "
—Surah Al-Anbiya, verses 26, 27 and 28
Angels have no sex. He doesn't know what it means to sleep, to be tired, to eat, to make mistakes, to forget. He is free from sin and imperfection, keeps God's commandments, and is faithful. Each of the angels, Gabriel, Michael, and Azareel, has a role to play. In verse 6 of Surat at-Tahrim, the Qur'an describes the basic attributes of angels: Angels live in heaven. He descends to earth only by the command of Allah. The angel Gabriel came to the prophets and Mary as a man and conveyed the message of Allah. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saw the image of the angel when the verses of the Qur'aan were first revealed and ascended to the Migration. Angels serve mankind in two worlds: this world, the hereafter, and the spiritual world. His activities in this world are: rain, wind, protection from disasters, diseases, witnessing the prayers and good deeds of Muslims, writing them in the book of deeds, praying for Muslims and scholars, and taking souls. His deeds in the Hereafter are: questioning the soul, admitting him to Paradise or Hell, blowing the trumpet, guarding the gates of Hell, serving those who enter Paradise, witnessing the deeds in the Book of Deeds, and asking forgiveness for the mistakes and sins of the believers.
