Robinson Crusoe is one of the most famous works of the famous English writer Daniel Defoe, published in 1719 and considered the first English novel. It is a fictional autobiography of the protagonist. Probably the story was inspired by real events that occurred to Alexander Selkirk, from where he would construct, with a simple and authentic plot, a symbol of colonialism, of the perfect man and of the supreme morality.

Robinson Crusoe is a sailor from York who, in an expedition to Africa by boat, is captured by pirates and becomes a slave. He escapes and is helped by a Portuguese navy captain, who heads to Brazil. In this last place it is established for a time but the option of sailing again to Africa in search of blacks to attend the domestic needs of him and a group of immigrants in Brazil arises; it is there where the ship is shipwrecked and is the only survivor, managing to reach an island that seems to be the only inhabitant.

As a means to survive, take all those weapons and supplies from the ship you need, waiting to be rescued. When at last he begins to adapt to solitude and settle down on the island, he discovers that he is not alone in it, since an indigenous cannibal tribe frequently visits the island for its rituals and feasts. Crusoe immediately considers the Indians as enemies, and helps escape one of his prisoners who was about to be executed. As they have known one Friday, Crusoe calls him "Friday" and forges a sincere friendship, even though they do not coincide in the language or in the culture.

Together they decide to help the other prisoners captured by the Indians, one of whom is a Spaniard who is also a castaway who awaits the arrival of a ship.
